Hello. I am EB Hawks. My birth name is Elizabeth, but I am known to many only by my lifelong nickname, Boomer. I am a mixed media artist, graphic and web designer, art journaler, scrapbooker, card maker, crafty-momma living a pinspired life.
I am inspired by typography, patterns, colors, and images at every turn. Turning this inspiration into concrete designs makes my soul sing. I log a lot of my inspiration on Pinterest so I can come back to the ideas and experiment with them. I start almost every project with a Pin. Sometimes I recreate it and sometimes it takes a decisive turn during the creative process.
Sometimes I am wholly over my head. I think, “I can do that” only to realize that I don’t have any idea how to do that. Inevitably at this point, I will have a big ugly phase and start to panic. Then, I do a lot of research, renew my trust in the creative process, and work through it. I am constantly reminding myself of the importance of forward motion.
“I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” —Pablo Picasso
I work with mixed media – paper, acrylic paint, watercolor, ink, color pencils, pastels, fabrics, photos… anything that I can find, really. I’m a product hoarder, so I try to work different products into my work resulting in many layers of added depth and texture.
I’m happy you’ve found me and hope you enjoy the highs and lows of my creative journey. I sure do! In the process, I hope you find some inspiration of your own and learn from my mistakes so you can make art that make your soul sing, too.
